Why do people follow Leaders?

  • Trust: there is only an eight percent chance that employees who do not trust their leaders will be engaged

  • Compassion: employees who saw their leaders as compassionate produced the following outcomes:

    • Stayed with the organization longer.

    • Engaged customers.

    • Were more productive.

    • Were more profitable for the organization.

  • Stability: change is inevitable but people emotionally resist change, transparency helps smooth the emotional and psychological journey due to change

  • Hope: gives employees something to look forward to, and it helps them see a way through chaos and complexity; when hope is absent, people lose confidence, disengage, and often feel helpless
